Acne Care for Different Skin Types

by Abigail Mckenzee

Acne is an inflammatory disease characterized by irritation, swelling, pimples, and blackheads. Pimples are usually a result of infected blackheads or whiteheads that are caused when pores become clogged or infected.

Acne stems from a combination of different factors. Some of the most common characteristics associated with acne breakouts are excessive sebum production, uneven shedding of the skin cells and a genetic predisposition. The severity of an acne breakout will depend on the type of skin that you have.

In order to achieve healthy skin, it is important to deal with all of the skin problems that you have. Whether you have dry skin or oily skin, acne skin care is an integral part of a healthy skin care routine. In fact, by treating acne in an effective and timely manner, you can actually help prevent acne and scars at the same time.

If you have oily skin, these lesions can appear on the surface of the skin. If you have dry skin, it is more likely that acne will appear beneath the surface of the skin. Therefore, acne solutions will vary depending on what skin type you have.

Different Skin Types and their Acne Skin Care

Acne remedies can range from natural acne care to prescription medication. Natural remedies may be ideal if you have sensitive skin as most prescription creams contain harsh ingredients to fight off acne. Oily skin, however, is capable of withstanding harsher ingredients, but it can also benefit greatly from natural skin care products.

If you have oily skin, look for products that contain one or both of the following: salicylic acid and retinol. Both of these ingredients help combat the root causes of acne.

Salicylic acid helps regulate uneven shedding. It works to chemically exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. This ingredient is exceptionally good at penetrating the follicle and encouraging the shedding process from within.

It helps unclog pores and eliminate blackheads. If you have dry and sensitive skin this beta hydroxy acid might cause some irritation. If this is your case, avoid using products with salicylic acid or use them less frequently.

Another ingredient that can help deal with acne is retinol or retinoic acid. This ingredient is excellent for acne because it inhibits the secretion of sebum, however, if you have dry or sensitive skin, you should avoid it.

If you have dry skin and are trying to treat your acne problem, your best solution is finding a good moisturizer. Dry skin will usually have dry patches and small cracks in the skin. If these cracks are not repaired, acne bacteria can easily get in and lead to infection.

If you have sensitive skin you should try using a cleanser that does not contain glycolic acid. This type of cleanser will help you remove excess oil without leading to irritation.

By not choosing the right acne care products you can actually make your acne worse. BIOACNECARE is a natural skin care product that is excellent for all types of skin. It contains a wonderful mix of natural ingredients that can help eliminate blackheads and prevent acne without producing undesired side effects.
