Acne - an inflammatory disorder

Acne is initiated by an inflammatory signal that is sent by the neural system. During certain periods of growth sebum production is exacerbated and the first flow of sebum through the duct creates injury to the pilosebaseous gland. In more simple terms, injuries in the hair follicle are caused by a sudden and sharp outflow of sebum to the surface of the skin. This is usually caused by hormonal imbalances.
