Nail Care Tips for You and Me
Having good nail care habits is really important as ugly nails do not only leave a bad impression on the people that we meet, but these are generally weak and prone to cracking. Once this happens, nails are very painful to deal with and it can even interfere with your work.
One problem which causes a lot of people to have bad nails is nail biting. This is a habit that a lot of people have a hard time getting rid of. This is because nail biting was usually developed while people are still young and it got stuck until they grew older. But this is not an excuse to keep on nail biting as seeing adults nail bite is really not a very good sight to see.
The only way to stop this bad habit is to decide when to stop it and do it. This problem will not go a way on its own so you should keep a constant effort and resist biting your nails even if you feel the urge to do it. One way to remind yourself is by wearing gloves or putting on nail polish so that you will first think twice instead of subconsciously biting on your nails again.
Aside from this bad habit, there are also other nail problems that people encounter. One is having weak nails. These are often a result of poor nail care habits and a poor diet. Weak nails are hard to take care of as they can crack very easily. Eating healthy foods will help in making these nails stronger and less prone to breaking. One way to further improve the strength of your nails is by dipping them in warm olive oil a few times each week.
Nail polish is also a good way to protect your nails. These do not only serve to beautify your nails, but it adds a protective barrier to your nails and prevents them from getting scratched or cracking too easily. Even guys may opt to use clear nail polish to help make their nails more presentable, especially if their work involves meeting and dealing with a lot of people.
One downside to using nail polish is that it has the potential to also harm your nails if used too often. This is because nail polish is usually made from synthetic chemicals that can be absorbed into the nails if it stays attached for very long periods of time. It is good practice to let your nails breathe from time to time so that they are not constantly exposed to possible harmful effects of these chemicals.
Nail polish remover is also another chemical that you should be wary of. Using nail polish remover too often will leave your nails dry. Dry nails will of course be a lot easier to break than hydrated nails. Be sure to use hand lotion after applying nail polish remover, or even after washing your hands with soap to ensure that nails stay hydrated and protected.
With these nail care tips together with your knowledge of basic nail care, you should be able to maintain nice and healthy nails that you would be proud to show off to anyone. You won't have to worry about having cracked and painful nails anymore as long as you practice these good nail habits.
